7 Proven Strategies for Preventing Diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects millions of people worldwide. It is characterized by high blood sugar levels, which can cause serious health problems if not properly managed. Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol can increase the risk of developing diabetes. Limiting your alcohol intake to one to two drinks per day is acceptable.

Get enough sleep

Stop smoking

Regular check-ups with your primary care provider can help identify any risk factors for diabetes. This can include blood work to check glucose levels, and a physical exam to assess your overall health.

Although some people cannot change their risk of developing diabetes due to their family history, making even small changes to their lifestyle can delay the onset/decrease the severity of diabetes.
